    • lateral neck xray (thumb sign aka swollen epiglottis)
  • Tx

    • manage airway: O2, intubate if needed
    • nebulized epinephrine
    • methylprednisolone 1 mg/kg IV q6h or dexamethasone 0.15-0.6 mg/kg IV
    • cefuroxime 50 mg/kg IV per dose (alternatives: cefotaxime or ceftriaxone)
    • add vancomycin 10 mg/kg if cephalosporin resistance
