  • Meds for opioid side effects

    • constipation: docusate + senna
    • itching: diphenhydramine prn
    • nausea: ondansetron prn
  • Pediatric dosing

    • acetaminophen 15 mg/kg PO or PR
    • ibuprofen 10 mg/kg PO
    • morphine 0.1-0.3 mg/kg IV
    • fentanyl 1-2 mcg/kg IV
    • hydromorphone 0.015-0.02 mg/kg IV
    • oxycodone 0.1 mg/kg PO

  • Monitor opiate side effects

    • mental status
    • respiratory depression
    • nausea, vomiting for opiates
    • pruritus
    • urinary retention
    • constipation
  • Monitor NSAID side effects

    • abdominal pain
